Is your Mac up to date with the latest version of the Mac operating system? Is it using the version required by a product that you want to use with your Mac? Which versions are earlier (older) or later (newer, more recent)? To find out, learn which version is installed now.

Fetch the OSK authentication key. MacOS checks that it is running on real Mac hardware, and refuses to boot on third-party hardware. You can get around this by reading an authentication key out of your real Mac hardware (the OSK key). Save the first block of C code from this page as smcread.c. In a command prompt, change into the same.

If your macOS isn't up to date, you may be able to update to a later version.

  • Gpedit.msc – Group Policy Editor in Windows allows you to set and edit different Windows policies of a local or remote computer. Since Group Policy Editor is an advanced tool, it is buried deep inside Windows, and this Run command is the easiest way to access it.
  • Global Nav Open Menu Global Nav Close Menu; Apple; Shopping Bag +.
  • In this video i show you how to read the OSK key from the smc chip on an apple computer.Included is all the files you need https://www.dropbox.com/s/tyakzgt.
  • Even though Osk is the fastest genealogy software out there, the software is even faster than before. There have been a few bugs reported since last version, and they have all been fixed.

Which macOS version is installed?

From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose About This Mac. You should see the macOS name, such as macOS Big Sur, followed by its version number. If you need to know the build number as well, click the version number to see it.

Which macOS version is the latest?

These are all Mac operating systems, starting with the most recent. When a major new macOS is released, it gets a new name, such as macOS Big Sur. As updates that change the macOS version number become available, this article is updated to show the latest version of that macOS.

If your Mac is using an earlier version of any Mac operating system, you should install the latest Apple software updates, which can include important security updates and updates for the apps that are installed by macOS, such as Safari, Books, Messages, Mail, Music, Calendar, and Photos.

Future Plans – Osk 5 (Posted October 2010)
From the developer: Even though it appears that the site has been sleeping, I haven’t. I have been designing and planning a new release. The version 5 that I have not dared to put out yet. It is still being worked on, the work happens to be greater than I had initially thought. But with new versions of the development tools and the iPad showing up, limitless possibilities.
