  1. Other answers here claiming leaving a MacBook connected to the charger is bad or will damage something are factually incorrect, and are obviously written by people who have no idea what they are talking about, and shouldn’t be trusted. Leaving your MacBook (or any other Apple product) connected to the charger overnight is not bad.

I have a similar problem. Just recently my power adapter stopped lighting up at all when I plug it into my computer. I checked the system profile and it says that the AC Adapter is connected but that the battery is not charging. When I plug the adapter into my friend's Macbook (same model) the adapter lights up just fine. My friends adapter will not work in my Macbook either.
This problem started yesterday after a rather lengthy session of WoW. My computer gets very warm when playing and last night I think I let it go for too long. The heat comes from around where the adapter connects. Is there any chance that the heat could have damaged part of my computer? Everything else works fine but the battery just won't charge.
Thanks for your help.
EDIT: The battery indicator on the bottom of the computer shows all lights lit up green when tested.
