1. Examplify is supported on the latest 4 versions of Mac OS. So this means that if you are running an OS that is 4 versions old, and a new OS is released then yep, you guessed it, that list bumps up by one and your old version is now 5 versions old and the new Examplify will no longer work on your now.
  2. Run the standard macOS installer program, specifying the downloaded.pkg file as the source. Use the -pkg parameter to specify the name of the package to install, and the -target / parameter for which drive to install the package to. The files are installed to /usr/local/aws-cli, and a symlink is automatically created in /usr/local/bin.

Xmplify uses its knowledge of your document's current structure and its definition (DTD or XML Schema) to provide intelligent auto-completion suggestions. Xmplify's auto-completion pop-up also displays displays documentation relevant to each auto-completion, putting all the information you need to create and edit semantically correct documents at your fingertips.

Node documentation

Xmplify scans for and displays any documentation provided by your documents' XSDs for whatever node you're currently editing, providing you with full details of the current context no matter where you are in your document. If your document specifies a DTD, Xmplify displays documentation based on the DTD specification for the current node. And if your document doesn't specify an XSD or a DTD, Xmplify displays documentation based on the XSD it automatically derives for you.

And of course, like everything else in Xmplify, node documentation is automatically kept up to date as you move around in and edit your document - or its specification.

Automatic Schema derivation

If your document doesn't specify a DTD or XML Schema Xmplify automatically derives a schema and seamlessly uses the derived schema for providing intelligent auto-completion suggestions. Xmplify updates the derived schema as you edit your document, so it can always offer accurate suggestions.

Xmplify can also derive a Schema from multiple source XML documents, so you don't need to compile a 'master' source XML document with all possible cases in order to derive a comprehensive Schema.

Navigate quickly to element definitions

Xmplify's Goto Specification feature allows you to quickly jump to the location in your document's DTD or XML Schema that defines the elements you're working with. If your document doesn't have an explicit DTD or schema, Goto Specification will take you to the relevant entries in the schema that Xmplify has automatically derived for your document.

XSL transformations

Xmplify makes applying XSLTs and working with their transformations easy, and with Xmplify's Web Preview features you can easily check the output of XSLTs that produce (X)HTML.

Creating a Working Directory

Move to the directory you want to use and execute the following command to create a directory for this workshop.

Bootstrap a React app

Using create-react-app command of React, you create a model of the React web application.

Initializing Amplify

Execute the amplify init command at the top of the project root directory (boyaki) of React.

A few questions are asked to you along the way. Note that the following choices and others are OK by default.

  • environment name: production
  • Choose your default editor: Vim (via Terminal, Mac OS only) (choose your favorite editor)
  • Please choose the profile you want to use amplify-handson (choose the Profile created for Amplify in 1.3.)

Below is an example of the answer to all questions.

  • Choose your default editor: Vim (via Terminal, Mac OS only)
  • Choose the type of app that you’re building javascript

  • Please choose the profile you want to use amplify-handson

If you have not successfully completed amplify configure at the Prerequisites section, you may be asked ? Setup new user. In such case, please set up a new user.If you answer Y, the AWS Management Console opens in your browser. Log in to the Management Console and follow the instructions below.

Amplify CLI displays Y/n and y/N when answering questions with Yes/No.In such questions, besides of yes or no, you can use y or n for answers.In addition, if Y/n, Yes, and y/N, No is the default answer.If you are satisfied with the default answer, you can press Enter as it is.

After completing the selection of Profile, the backend initialization starts. AWS CloudFormation automatically creates the underlying AWS resources (such as IAM Roles, Amazon S3 buckets) needed for your application’s backend.

Let’s start the development server and check it in a browser so that you can see the changes in your code in real time.

When the development server launches, http://localhost:3000 automatically opens in the browser.If it does not open automatically, please do it manually.

Once you have confirmed it, you leave the tab for the terminal running $ npm start as it is. Then open a new tab and proceed the task.

The following steps are for those who are using AWS Cloud9. If you are not using AWS Cloud9, please proceed to the next step.As a reminder, in this workshop, we recommend you to carry out in your local environment.

Click Preview in the menu in AWS Cloud9 and choose Preview Running Application.

If you prefer, you can view the Preview in a new tab.

Finally, open Terminal in a new tab. Leave the original terminal intact and leave the development server up. At this time, execute cd boyaki.
